Red’s CD project Witcher Thronebreaker: The add-on Witcher Tales was recently released on Nintendo Switch. The name was originally an exclusive GOG name but came out a few months later on Steam and consoles.

The game is based on characters from Andrzej Sapkowski’s new series, some of which were mentioned in the witcher game trilogy.

The story of the official Nintendo trailer is: “Thronebreaker is an RPG for a player that combines narrative exploration with unique puzzles and turn-based battles, and the story of Meve, a veteran, tells. Given the upcoming invasion of Nilfgaard, Mev is forced to set off of war and returning to the dark path of destruction and revenge. ”

The name is more historical than The Witcher. The content is created entirely via GWENT, a card game that is also a by-product of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Players have the opportunity to play in a less difficult way, focusing on the plot rather than the gameplay.

Thronebreaker does not focus on Geralt, although the CDPR makes it clear that it has part of the story. CDPR has managed to revive other characters in the magical world. Like the Witcher trilogy, however, Thronebreaker is only inspired by novels, not by official changes.

Although the name is Nintendo Switch, no further witch stories are planned in the future. The CDPR mentioned in several interviews that the game is not going very well. GWENT has also recently lost console support and can only be played on PCs and mobile devices. Despite the fact that GWENT was very popular after the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, it seems that this card is unrelated to some.

The slowdown in performance can be caused by the exclusive launch of GOG, which is owned by the CDPR. Many PC players only choose a digital platform and were unable to launch Thronebreaker before launching on Steam.

The game is only available for digital download in the Nintendo Switch Online shop for 4.3 GB.
