Looking for the perfect tea table for your home? Choosing the right table is essential to create an atmosphere of harmony. When you go to choose it, think that it will become the most important decorative element in the room and that everything will revolve around it, so it is advisable that it goes according to the rest of the furniture. To help you make your choice, here are some guidelines that will help you to find the most appropriate tea table for your home.

1) What use are you going to give it?

Will you eat and dine regularly in it? Will it be a multipurpose table where your children will do their homework and where you will work from time to time? Then you will need a more practical table. Another factor to take into account is if you usually organize dinners with many people in your house or if, on the other hand, you are rather small groups.

2) Choose the appropriate material

It is important to choose the material of the tea table properly, also depending on the use that you are going to give it. If you eat regularly, you will have to choose resistant materials and easy maintenance. Hardwoods are very beautiful, but you should be careful not to scratch, bump or place very hot things on them, especially if there are children.

Fortunately, there are woods with special treatments that make them resistant and durable. If you are going to give the tea table a more sporadic use, you can opt for a glass table or another more delicate material that does not require great maintenance.

3)What size do you need it?

Once you have chosen the material for the table, another very important factor to take into account will be the space you have to place it. Take into account the width and length and think that you will need about 60 cm between each chair if you want to be comfortable.

For a table of 6 people, you need at least 150 cm long and 80 cm wide, knowing that the average height of a table is 75 to 80 cm. For four people the table should be about 120 cm, leaving a minimum of 70 cm to the surroundings.

4) Choose the shape of the table

Always taking into account the space you have, the options are:

  • Rectangular tables. Is the most usual way. As it has more space between diners, it is the least intimate, but it is also usually more comfortable and spacious.
  • Square tables. They are best suited for small spaces. Its ideal size is 150 x 150 cm, although the extendable ones usually double their capacity.
  • Round tables. There is a wide range of measurements that go from 70cm to 180cm in diameter, although the perfect size ranges between 120 and 180. They are warm furniture since diners are closer and can talk easily.
  • Oval tables. Halfway between the round and the rectangular is the oval table. Its main feature is that it has rounded edges, which also softens its appearance. It can be occupied by between 6 and 10 people and is more than convenient for narrow spaces. Its ideal size would be between 240-335 cm in diameter.
  • Extendable tables. Practically all tables can be and are perfect if your dining room is not very large. You just have to confirm that you have the necessary space to open them and to have a minimum of comfort around.

5) Where will you locate it

It is very important to delimit the area of the table, either using a rug, some pictures, a plant in a corner … The important thing is that this area is defined and that the diners do not have the feeling that they are sitting in the middle of nothing.

Thus, the room will gain stability, creating a pleasant environment. If you have little space, you will need a tea table that can collect the chairs inside it and that, in addition, the legs and arms of these do not get in the way.

6) Outdoor tables

It is one of the main furniture that you will have to invest in if you want to enjoy the outdoors on your terrace or garden. The normal thing is that here there is no problem of space that we have in the living room and you can always choose longer tables where you can eat without restriction.
