What 5 Things Do Passengers Think Make A Great Airline?

Many different airlines have been added to the air travel scene in recent decades, and consumers are now spoilt for choice when choosing who to fly with to a whole host of global destinations. From short haul to long-haul flights, it seems few destinations are off limits for consumers nowadays, and few airlines are unwilling to fly them there.

But what does an airline have to do to get itself listed among the top ten airlines in the world? Let’s take a closer look at the 5 things passengers deem important when judging an airline on its greatness:

  1. Customer service

To keep customers satisfied and encourage them to be loyal, airlines must offer high quality customer service. From how an airline deals with customers when making bookings or queries, to amenity kits onboard, airlines must make the customer king, and treat them that way.

  • Great prices and deals

Value for money is often at the top of consumers’ wish lists when ranking airlines in terms of greatness, and being able to get a great deal on flights when compared to other airlines, can literally, be a deal-breaker.

Fortunately, the rise in low-cost or budget carriers has made travel more affordable for many, and price comparison sites have given consumers a quicker, easier way to find the cheapest airline to fly with.

  • Comfort and space

For many consumers, seat size, leg-room and overall comfort – particularly for long-haul flights – is of the utmost importance, and airlines offering spacious, more comfortable seating areas (especially in economy or cattle-class), are often favored.

  • Entertainment

Flights can be long and boring, and without a compelling in-flight entertainment system with which to distract themselves for hours in the air, passengers can become disheartened with an airline. This may be particularly pertinent for those passengers traveling with young children, who desperately need their little ones not to be bored, for their sake and the sake of their fellow passengers!

Airlines offering the latest movies and TV shows to keep both adults and children entertained during long flights, may well be judged greater than others.

  • Inflight meals

Although providing passengers with tasty, hot, and nutritious food has long been a challenge for airlines (even though around 30% of a person’s ability to taste food is lost when flying), things have gotten a lot better in recent decades, with both the quality and quantity having improved significantly. Some airlines have even sought help from celebrity chefs to create menus and dishes that are both mouthwatering, and restaurant-worthy, especially for business and first-class passengers.

Don’t deliver on inflight meals and snacks however, and an airline can easily find itself receiving negative reviews and losing out to its competitors. The top rated airlines for international travel likely ensure that they cover all of the above, and consistently. It’s not enough to give passengers a great experience on one flight, and not on another, so consistency for airlines is equally as important as delivering the latest in inflight movies, serving up memorable dishes, and giving consumers great deals on flight fares
