Yes, you read that correctly! Whilst The Independent claim that it takes 528 hours, or 22 full days to plan a wedding, this Essex based couple managed it in just two weeks.

In this beautiful video created by Suffolk Wedding Videographer  Sam Charlesworth and his company The Camera Guys, you’ll see the heartwarming speeches in which they reveal the reasons for planning their entire wedding in such a short time frame! – With Andy’s career taking him to Oman, a place where the law states that they cannot cohabit unless they are married, they decided to marry, which bought them to their wedding day at Colchester Town Hall where they then proceeded to Le Talbooth in Deadham.

How long did it take you to plan your wedding? Leave your answers in the comments and let us know if you think two weeks is too quick, or if you could do it in less!

We spoke to Norfolk based wedding planner Sarah Ohaio who shared her opinions on the matter. According to Sarah, a couple will typically spend two years planning their wedding, the average engagement lasts 20 months and most couples will take longer if their finances aren’t in order or if they don’t have proper planning in place. She said: “Using a wedding planner can cut the time down to as little as a month, I have never had to do it in two weeks but I would be up to the challenge!”

When asked what she felt was the most important part of the wedding planning process, Sarah had this to say: “For me it’s a short list, get these basic things in order and everything else just falls in to place: The wedding venue… it’s definitely THE most important thing, closely followed by the theme and the mood. You need to decide early on during the planning process what sort of mood you want to set – whether that be high energy, high participatory entertainment, or chilled boho vibes.

The dress, the ring, the suits, the guestlist. Get those out of the way and that’s all the important things sorted! And then, the most important part to follow is of course how you’re going to remember everything. The wedding videographer and the wedding photographer are the next thing in the list! When choosing a wedding videographer you want to make sure that you select on based on their portfolio and their style.

Don’t even consider pricing – it’s not something that you want to skimp out on only to then regret down the line. The same goes with the wedding photography. They are family heirlooms and should be treated as such! Things like the cake and of course important too, but honestly… who remembers the cake 10 years later?

So. To summarise, if you’re looking to plan a wedding in two weeks – watch Jo and Andy’s video for inspiration and if you’re struggling, consider hiring an experienced wedding planner.
