Dirge of Cerberus was released on PlayStation 2 in 2006 as part of the main Final Fantasy franchise series. The payment received was placed in the Final Fantasy 7 universe and was made three years after the events of the original game. Dirge of Cerberus has never watched, and in some ways, Square Enix has never been interested in looking back in recent years. However, if the next generation approaches quickly, the developer/publisher may consider this.

Last week, Square Enix introduced the Dirge of Cerberus brand at the US Patent and Trademark Office. The attached description contains no details and can only be honestly sent to inform the trademark. However, the file has a text logo that differs from the standard logo of the original. There may be little chance that Square Enix will return a Cerberus Dirge with a new release or remaster.

Dirge of Cerberus differs from payments on the main route due to its status as a third-party shooter. There were still elements of an RPG and real-time combat deployment. Although Dirge of Cerberus has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide, it has received mixed reviews in both the West and Japan. The game has been criticized for irrational enemies and simplified environments. There was still some appeal, but overall, Square Enix would run the risk of developing a Final Fantasy shooter. The players are split between the games and this could be why Enix Square never thought of continuity.

The most interesting thing, however, is that Dirge of Cerberus was meant for Final Fantasy 7, which will get a good remake later this year. Can Enix Square use this logic to close the circle and update Cergeus Dirge? Definitely worth considering.

By the way, Final Fantasy 7 was postponed to April 10th. For the March 3 release, the new version initially required additional development time to ensure that everything was in line with what Enix Square wanted to offer. The launch is exclusive to PlayStation 4 for those who don’t know.
