One in a Million Buddies: Rarest Pets in World of Warcraft Shadowlands

World of Warcraft Shadowlands

Other than WoW mounts for sale or obtainable through quests, there’s another form of animal companion that serves as a status symbol or cred as an adventurer: pets. Now, in Shadowlands, there are new critters to be tamed. Among them, these are the rarest. Those that want to be buddies with them need to follow these instructions.

Courage

Is he a cat? A manticore? A chimera? Nobody knows, and it does not matter either. What matters is that he is cute, and that its name is equally adorable. He is no other than Courage.

Apart from his cuddliness, this blue winged feline is also known for its rarity. In fact, nobody is certain how he is obtained, or whether him being found found on the auction house once was true. Some say he can be acquired the same way as is his sister, Larion Pouncer, which is by summoning Eliminator Sotiros and Larionrder Orstus in the Citadel of Loyalty in Bastion. Some say he’s a rare drop from Bastion instances. Perhaps hardcore WoW players would be able to pinpoint how he’s exactly dropped; hopefully sooner than later. For now, players can only buy WoW gold and wait for him to pop up – or if the rumors are true, pop up again – in the auction house

Devoured and Gilded Wader

If only six hundred out of hundreds of thousands of players got a particular item, then it is without a doubt one of the rarest of the rare. That very much applies to the Devoured Wader. In fact, that statistical statement is not theoretical. Rather, it is the actual number of chosen few that were blessed by Azeroth’s RNG gods to get this underworldly stork.

According to Mystynmystyn, one of those six hundred, said that the pet can be obtained during the Swelling Tear events that happen at random in Bastion. During that event, a portal that leads to an Elite enemy will open, and from it players will get one of the three rare items. One of them is the bird in question. The problem, however, is that even though this were the actual case, Mystynmystyn didn’t specify which of the many events in Bastion gives this winged wonder. Looks like players will just have to keep their eyes peeled.

A cousin of the Devoured Wader is the Gilded Wader. The difference between the two is that as the name suggests, the Gilded Wader is more colorful, with its feathers a bright blue and purple gradient. Much like other rare pets, there are varying claims about how it’s obtained, but the most popular and perhaps the most sensible is that it’s obtainable from rare chests in Revendreth, Maldraxxus, and Bastion. Just keep opening chests and hopefully, you’re one of Azeroth’s luckiest of the lucky.

Char

Among WoW’s newest pets, Char is also one of the strangest. True to its moniker, it’s a small gray and floating and golem-like entity that is only obtainable in a very specific way: putting out fires during the Ember Court Run in Revendreth with Anima Infused Water.

There is, however, no guarantee that it’s truly the way to get it. That’s how it is with pets that can only be obtained using a very specific method and has a very low chance to do so – it messes with the minds of theorycrafters on whether it’s truly obtained that way.

Bound Lightspawn

Another elemental-like pet is the Bound Lightspawn, which is glowing gold – a stark contrast to Char’s seemingly lifeless gray. Much like the other pets on the list, the way to obtain it is oddly specific and the drop rate is very low. There is only one mob that drops it: the Amalgamation of Light, which is a rare mob as well. Found in the Ember Ward in Revendreth, players have to check (25.6, 48.6). There will be three mirrors in that area. They tell whether the Amalgamation of Light has yet to respawn or can already be summoned. If they are broken, then it is the former. If they are intact, players will have to break it to summon the mob.

There is only a 4% chance that the Amalgation of Light will drop, so patience will indeed be a virtue for players that want this pet. Given how rare it is, this particular pet is definitely worth all the hassle that comes with it.

So, which of these hard-to-find pets do you want to be on your side? Are you willing to go through all that tedious number-crunching to get it? Or maybe the one you want isn’t here – or perhaps not even discovered yet? Tell us more in the comments section.
