From a backup singer in a church to becoming D. Policy, talented artist Obakpolor Esemuede has made a remarkable journey so far Born and brought up in Nigeria, Obakpolor Esemuede aka D. Policy is a man with diversified talent. He is presently an emerging recording artist, lyricist, and producer, who started his career in music as a backup singer in a church and then later made his aim to enter this industry and to do justice to his singing skills and contribute to the music industry.
D.Policy has just released his debut EP “Afro Map” in 2020, featuring eight foot-tapping songs featuring groovy beats and rhythms, complemented by cheerful vocal delivery by the artist. With the release of this EP, D. Policy is ready to take the Afro beats sounds to the mainstream music scene, and in fact, he has accomplished to do so to quite some extent as the EP is receiving a great response by both the fans and critics alike.
Every track of the EP is distinct, with its unique thematic vibe, drenched in euphonious melodies and sounds. One of the notable tracks from the EP is “Jor Jor” which is inspired by a true incident that happened with D.Policy, and features ‘Darling Sabrina’, one of the most popular DJs in Malaysia.
“Afro Map” is an innuendo to different messages that the artist wishes to project through every song. “When I say Afro Map I am actually revealing a whole lot of things for the world to see, so the map is for you to see these things clearly with my sound and message”, adds the artist.

His love and passion for music drove his interest and future towards music. D. Policy released his first solo “Ifeoma” is 2017, followed by “No Woman, No Joy”. His amazing skills and determination led him to grow his fan base which made him a soon to be hit emerging artist.
Policy’s major music styles are AfroBeat, AfroPop, AfroHighlife, Reggae, R&B/Soul, Dance Hall, et al. This man is so flexible and dynamic in himself that he can jump off to any genre that vibes with him at a moment. He is not a musician to stick by one genre as that would sound too monotonous for a person like him who just loves music without any discrimination.
His musical journey has been smooth and tough at the same time. At the initial stages of his career when he just started as a singer in the year 2017, it was quite a tough phase for him as he had some throat pain that always used to bother him whenever he talked or sang.
He went to several doctors but it all went in vain. But his passion for music was so strong that he continued singing until the pain disappeared by itself. Being an ambitious person, he didn’t give away with his passion instead he fought with his issues and also won over them.

Sending a message to his fans, the artist states, “Don’t ever give up on your dreams, always do what you love, do what makes you happy, always do what makes you feel happy and if things get harder then go harder and trust the process and it will pay off someday. Keep supporting and streaming.”
Policy’s collaboration with Tekno helped him unravel many new opportunities. Going by the music he has released so far, it wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that D.Policy is rapidly making his mark in the music scene and is here to stay.
Though he has many projects now under his belt, the recent one being his debut EP titled “Afro Map” is out now on Spotify.
