chidiër better known as Youngchidi from Amsterdam east has a 150,000 followers on tiktok He hopes it is a stepping stone to his own business career.

The most important thing to become popular on the app TikTok, according to Chidi (nickname) is that you are creative and that you are yourself.

He makes video clips on it, sends them around the world and others respond to them. “Do something that other people don’t do,” he says. “That’s what makes it original and the reason you stand out.”Creative Chidiër was as a small child. According to his father, he was always doing creative things like making distant viewers, rubber band guns and steerable cars. That tiktok would be his stage to become famous, he could not have imagined at the time.  “When I was in 8th grade, all the girls in my class had the app. They were constantly talking about it. I didn’t like it at first, but downloaded it anyway.”

Barely any likes
“The first video I made was a sketch video where I imitated “parents be like” that had 100 likes.
Chidiër started making better and better videos.  “At first they were hacks and tricks videos. The number of followers grew quickly. But that became monotonous.”
When he started making comedy and motivational videos, the number of followers accelerated. Tiktok is not very popular among boys. That’s why I think it’s easier to break through as a boy.”

Being featured in the app itself earned Chidiër 150,000 likes.  “I started thinking more and more creatively: how can I make even better videos, for an even bigger target group.”
A tick on tiktok is the crowning glory of his work. “Unfortunately I don’t have that tick yet but who knows in the future. Within two weeks I had 20,000 followers. I’m now at 150,000.” i could have had many more but unfortunately my account was blocked for 6 months the reason for that I don’t know myself probably because i had broken the guidelines according to them.

School
Per day he spends at least half an uhr making a video.  “If I really want to make a good video, I spend 1 or 2 hours a day on it.”Yet he still manages to just attend his school – he attends Het ROC van Amsterdam – and meet up with his friends. The pressure to post a video every day is now less than before.  “But I do try to do it every day.”
