Archaeologist, doctor, taxi driver, superstore employee, saint? What do all these professions and different characters have in common? Why, Koushik Chattopadhyay, of course. He is the seemingly non-stop actor we have all seen in commercials, films, TV series, short films and on stage. His resumé isn’t limited to these characters, however. He has so many roles listed on his CV that they would not all fit into this space.

Koushik was born and raised in India and went to school in South Africa for his doctoral studies. When he completed his degree he worked as a lecturer and a medical research scientist. It was way before that that Koushik first developed his passion for acting. It was when he was an undergrad in Pune, India when that happened. After he moved to Pittsburg in United States he decided to jump into acting by taking acting classes and performing in theaters. He knew that Los Angeles was the center of the entertainment industry in the states so he moved there and immersed himself in more acting classes including camera acting classes and from there he plunged into the professional acting world and began taking on parts in films and commercials, along with theater, videos and short films. In other words, he did just about every kind of performing a real actor could do.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Koushik has been an actor, writer, director and a producer. He has performed in countless films and played the lead protagonist in the audience favorite and award-winning movie Junk DNA, which Koushik wrote and produced through his own production company, Vatavriksha Productions. His character is a rather boring genetic scientist who is oblivious to love as he focuses only on manipulating people’s genes. During a gene experiment, however, he suddenly discovers that he is extremely attracted to a female associate, and as his love grows for her, his colleagues view him as “weird” and they plan to use an antidote on him to bring him back to his normal, boring scientific self.

Some of the other films Koushik has appeared in are: The Book of the Damned, in which he plays an archaeologist; I Believe, where he plays a doctor; Karma Dog, in which he is an animal activist, and he plays a saint in the movie High Road. Some other award-winning films he has been featured in are: He plays a taxi driver in All the Same; a superstore employee in Jacket, and a romantic lead in the film Double Date.
