Brana Dane, Model and Influencer
The influencer age has become synonymous with a new form of shallowness and narcissism, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Some are using their influence to help oppressed peoples and raise awareness.
Meet Brana, a model and environmental activist who most recently demonstrated in protest of Uyghur forced labor, as seen in Marie Claire.
Brana has organized many environmental marches and social media campaigns in concert with organizations such as Lonely Whale and Rainforest Alliance in order to protect the environment.
She isn’t letting 2020 stop her. During COVID Brana used her 50k following on Instagram to advocate for herself and all independent contractors to be included in the massive CARES Act. After the bill passed, Brana was asked to post about COVID safety by Governor Cuomo’s team.
Brana believes that glamour and grassroots go together. It’s cool to care. Does this indicate a new trend in social media? Can connected individuals actually make a difference? We certainly hope so.
