Travel Pillows vs Travel Hoodies for sleep while traveling:
What is a Sloodie?
Sleeping in a cramped plane seat is never easy. Ever! Even if you get the aisle seat and have a bit more leg room, you still don’t have a place to rest your head.
Furthermore, if you are a bigger person with longer arms or legs, you have probably been bumped by the stewardess or the food cart a time or ten.
Travel pillows can definitely help sometimes, however I am partial to travel hoodies. If you haven’t tried a travel hoodie before, they often combine a hoodie and a travel pillow and they are a more all-in-one type of comfort.
I like travel hoodies, and particularly this cozy hoodie called the Sloodie over travel pillows because it hugs my arms in towards my body, away from the stewardess and her cart, away from strangers, away from the large person with hairy arms in seat 24C.
I like to stay in my own space, and travel hoodies in general help me do that.
There are several unique different types of Travel Hoodies out there. Here are a few to share that I like ….
One version of a travel hoodie out there is the stylish Scottevest hoodie. A few things I like…
Scottevest Pros:
- This thing is stylish and has 21 pockets!!! Pretty awesome ! Not sure I have ever used more than 4 pockets in one jacket but there you go!
- It is lightweight, cozy fabric, and would be beneficial for a night fishing on the dock or a day camping trip with all those pockets !
- This is a sleeker look because it doesn’t have built in neck cushions
Cons:
- No neck cushions, basic hoodie. Therefore potentially harder to sleep with this hoodie. Depends on preference.
Then there is the “Sloodie”. As seen on Indiegogo, Tech Times and NewsBreak. This travel accessory seriously has it all when it comes to plane seat comfort. Nothing else like this out there!
The “Sloodie” Pros:
- It has an oversized hood that covers your eyes and stops your neighbor from watching you sleep
- It has fabric arm rests that work with a kangaroo pocket in the front to keep your arms held gently towards your body and away from your neighbor
- Great for families, gamers and athletes
- Easy to compact. Arm rests can be used to tie it up into a tight compact ball to stuff into my backback when not resting.
Cons:
- It is a different feeling to wear a hoodie without sleeves so it does take a couple minutes to get used to this Sloodie hugging feeling. But def worth it!
The Sloodie hoodie will be the go to device for sleeping on planes in 2024! It looks a bit silly with the padded neck cushions built in, but it is just beyond comfortable so it doesn’t really matter! Plus all travel pillows and travel hoodies with cushions look silly to some extent.
The main negative with the Sloodie is that it isn’t available anywhere really. The only place I could find it was on the company’s main website SKY-HAVEN TRAVEL.
Lastly there is the Pillowdy, which is a full hoodie with inflatable neck cushions at the neck that you blow up. In my opinion this is a nice product, however I personally am not a fan of inflatable air cushions. They tend to not be sturdy enough for me and not enough head support. Based on their website this looks like a non-US based company.
Pros:
- Keeps you warm on flight
- Looks like a classic hoodie until you blow up the neck cushions
- Cozy material
Cons:
- Air cushion has to be blown up. Air cushion does not offer great neck support
