Dorothy, who lives in Kentucky, used this trick after her mother removed her phone and her Nintendo DS and Wii U consoles.

A glimmer of hope

When her mother saw confiscated her phone and consoles, Dorothy was caught off guard. However, there was one last glimmer of hope.

“My mom [uses the fridge] to order groceries, so I just googled,” she told CBS News.

To her surprise, the voice commands of the fridge were advanced enough to dictate a message to post on her Twitter account.

This amazing tweet has been retweeted more than 73,000 times on the social network, triggering a campaign of support under the hashtag #FreeDorothy.

Her Twitter account, which had only 500 subscribers before the start of his ordeal, now has more than 31,000.

It is unclear, however, whether her mother confiscated her access to the fridge.
