Tau Tau Menghan Wraps Pinky Swear's Filming And Shares Behind-The-Scene Stories After The Shoot

Tau Tau recently completed the shooting of her debut feature  ‘Pinky Swear’ in Berlin. Her directorial completed filming on a tight schedule of 14 days.Of course, this doesn’t include the extensive rehearsals needed to make this possible.

The murder mystery film stars Nadine Nourney, Christoph Schulenberger, Chris Angel Walker, and Vladyslav Shliienko in key roles.Tau Tau took to Instagram and shared a bunch of fun behind-the-scene photos, where the cast and crew can be seen enjoying an impulsive collaboration during the entire filming.

Different from some filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, Ethan Coen, and Gus Van Sant who after telling stories through images after many years or decades, finally tried their hand at fiction,Tau Tau’s first major recognition came with her debut Novel Ivory Fairytale in Mandarin at 16,which was followed by some 7 novels such as 《Shake Shake, North Africa》 and 《Foxy》 that usually made best-seller lists and were serialized in popular magazines in China. These works are mostly in the cozy murder mystery genre. The screenplay of Pinky Swear is based on her new novel 《The Flight Arrives in Berlin at 23:13》.

“Being a novelist, I can use the words alone to thoroughly control the storytelling process, but making a movie involves incorporating the efforts of dozens of talented artists whose wisdom and experience and spur-of-the-moment strokes of genius all can be incorporated into the final product, which means I’m not in total control, and I can’t change the setting, characters, action, costumes, and props in a few seconds by deleting and rewriting texts as I write novels. ” says the writer-turned-filmmaker Tau Tau, “Luckily, the crew and cast of Pinky Swear Movie have perfect cooperation that is simultaneously tantalizing and infuriating to each other and to the project. By the end of the day, making a film instead of writing a novel is just another work composed in a differing dialect of the same storytelling language. “

Being confident with her murder mystery storytelling skills, Tau Tau wrote on her social media:”Can’t wait to share this unique film with the audience!”
