Renewing hope for cancer patients in Uttar Pradesh: Nayati Healthcare

Nayati Healthcare’s Centre for Oncology (Cancer) is providing quality cancer treatment in the Braj region

When 65-year-old Ravindra, a resident of Mainpuri, noticed a lump on the inside of his left cheek several years ago, he passed it off as just another mouth ulcer. When the condition worsened, he consulted several doctors, but to no avail. He then went to a hospital in Agra, where the lump was removed by performing a surgery.

However, this was not the end of Ravindra’s woes. The lump grew again and had started bleeding and paining. Upon a suggestion made by an acquaintance, Ravindra made his way to Nayati Medicity, Mathura, where he met senior cancer surgeon, Dr. Ravikant Arora.

“After conducting the necessary examination, it was found that he had a large wound on the inside of his cheek, which had turned into a canker with some cancerous (recurrent and residual) tissues, which needed to be operated. After his family’s consent, we conducted a successful surgery and followed it up with radiation sessions. Ravindra is perfectly now,” Dr. Ravikant Arora said.

After emerging a cancer victor, Ravindra is relieved that he had access to quality medical care facilities in his home state itself. “Before I came to Nayati Medicity, I had sought treatment from a hospital in Agra, which turned out to be of no use. Some people suggested me to go to bigger cities like Delhi and Mumbai, but when I met Dr. Ravikant at Nayati, I was confident that I will recover and will not have to travel to another place,” says Ravindra.

He added, “I am satisfied with the treatment I received at Nayati. Before Nayati was established in Mathura, people from Mainpuri had to go to Delhi for advanced medical treatments. But now we are getting all the facilities and treatment closer to home, and that too at a much lower price than Delhi. I personally feel much relieved.”

Ravindra is not the only person who has benefitted from the establishment of a quaternary medical care facility in Mathura. Nayati Healthcare’s oncology department has successfully treated thousands of cancer patients so far, giving them a renewed sense of hope.

Nayati Medicity launched its Centre of Excellence for Cancer November 2017 with internationally trained doctors, a state of the art facility for an end to end treatment of cancer, including the first Bone Marrow Transplant Centre in a Tier 3 city. The hospital has all modern technologies and advanced international protocols for the treatment of cancer.

3 Novel Treatment Methods Used by Athletes to Reduce Recovery Time

Fitness and endurance are the two vital elements that an athlete requires to make a mark in the world of sports!

The life of an athlete is extreme in some ways as training and participation in any sport can demand long training hours and instances of injury are common. Athletes have to ensure that the right treatment method for treating their injuries is adopted at the earliest as any delay can seriously hamper their career prospects. Quick recovery from sporting injuries can aid the athletes in resuming their training and fitness routine within the shortest span of time.

In recent times, technological advancements in the field of sports have prompted athletes to try new treatment solutions. Three novel treatment methods that are being increasingly used by athletes in the current scenario to reduce recovery time are:

  • Cryotherapy
  • Compression Boots.
  • Personal Hyperbaric Chamber for athletes.

How are these three treatment methods administered to athletes?

  1. Cryotherapy:

This treatment method requires the individual to be standing submerged up to his or her neck in a cold-water tank, wherein the temperature is below freezing at approximately -200 degrees Fahrenheit.

The average duration of a Cryotherapy session is around three to five minutes. This therapy is believed to significantly enhance the recovery process by reducing the painful inflammation due to the decrease in blood flow.

Research conducted on patients who had undergone Cryotherapy has revealed a substantial reduction in their creatine kinase levels, thereby resulting in the restoration of the damaged muscle fiber.

Due to the body temperature being lowered during Cryotherapy, there is a surge in the production of important protein sources known as cytokines. These cytokines are essential for tissue reconstruction in case of muscle tears that occur during rigorous workouts.

  1. Compression Boots:

Athletes opting for this treatment are required to wear these boots for a minimum duration of 20 to 30 minutes at a time. Compression boots cover the leg completely. The constant compression and decompression mechanism in the boots ensure enhanced blood circulation through the limbs and this improves flexibility.

Medical experts have observed that the usage of compression boots also helps in expelling toxins and lactic acid from the affected legs.

The boots are known to aid in revitalizing the skin, curtailing first stage varicose veins, and curbing fluid retention in the limbs. Regeneration of cellulite is another advantage that has been observed in athletes after adopting compression boots as part of their treatment regimen.

  1. Hyperbaric Chamber for Athletes:

These chambers are exclusively used to administer an adjunctive treatment solution known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This alternative form of treatment has been used to treat a wide array of disorders ranging from decompression sickness in divers to gas embolism and many other types of ailments.

However, in the last few years, injured athletes have been adopting hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of their recovery regimen on a regular basis by using hyperbaric chambers for athletes.

Hyperbaric chambers for athletes is basically an airtight compartment that can be set up at any residence or hotel room within a short time and with relative ease to carry our hyperbaric therapy sessions.

The portability factor has made this form of treatment extremely popular with the athletes as they can carry it to their training camps and opt for a therapy session in any given location where they happen to be. Moreover, these chambers are lightweight and can be transported easily, making the entire treatment cycle a hassle-free experience.

During hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the injured athlete enters a hyperbaric chamber.  Thereafter, qualified hyperbaric experts administer pure unadulterated oxygen in the hyperbaric chamber for the person to breathe in. The atmospheric pressure inside the hyperbaric chamber for athletes is 2 to 3 times greater than the air pressure found at the sea level. The increase in pressure inside the chamber helps the pure oxygen dissolve in the patient’s body fluids like the blood plasma, central nervous system fluid.

This increased level of pure oxygen in the body fluids enhances our body’s natural healing process by delivering the oxygen to the damaged area where blood flow is either restricted or impaired.

As the athlete inhales pure oxygen in a hyperbaric chamber, the flow of oxygen to the damaged muscle tissues is enhanced, thereby encouraging the process of recuperation and recovery. This process is known to alleviate the brain function, reduce muscle fatigue, and prevent further cell damage.

A typical hyperbaric oxygen therapy session can last anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes. Medical experts are known to prescribe around forty sessions of this therapy to athletes, depending on the severity of their injury.

Currently, the market for these three new-age treatment techniques is growing at a rapid pace, with athletes adapting these options across the sporting spectrum. The hyperbaric chamber for athletes is definitely the most popular and favored injury recovery option amongst these three therapies.

Top athletes across the world are known to undergo hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions in these hyperbaric chambers on a regular basis. This mode of treatment is considered to be safe, non-invasive, and requires no overnight hospital stays.

All the positive attributes of these treatment methods have paved the way for a healthier future for athletes who are scouting for swift and efficient recovery methods to deal with their sports-related injuries.
