Greatest Red Bull Mountain Bike Competitors of All Time

When watching Red Bull mountain biking, it’s hard not to admire the racers on our screens. It takes a special kind of athlete to perform those big jumps and stunning moves (you’re not alone if you hold your breath while they’re free-falling from a huge cliff face!). With a chance to win over $100,000, the riders take it very seriously, and some have enjoyed more success than others.

Here are some of the greatest Red Bull mountain bike competitors of all time!

1. Brandon Semenuk

Firstly, it’s impossible to ignore the Red Bull Rampage winner from 2008, 2016, and 2019. In addition to this, Semenuk is also a five-time winner of the Red Bull Joyride. In many sports, you get athletes that transform their field and gain fans who don’t normally follow the sport…and Semenuk is this man for Red Bull mountain biking.

Undoubtedly talented, it’s surprising to think that the Canadian was in his teenage years back in 2010 when it all began. At the age of 29, Semenuk has slowed down in recent years and pulled away from the competitive scene. Although a shame, Semenuk left his mark on the sport (and then some!). Semenuk has been spotted in Australia, riding the hillsides in his Sendy Gear, mingling with other biking enthusiasts. So keep an eye out for him if you ride the outback!

2. Gee Atherton

Next, we’re talking about a man who has been prominent in all downhill events since the start of the previous decade. His accolades include six World Cup DH victories, 2014 Downhill World Champion, 2018 Red Bull Hardline Champion, and no less than 25 World Cup Podium finishes.

Back in 2010, Atherton competed at the Red Bull Rampage event and managed to grab second place; the same position he finished eight years earlier during the 2004 event. In this year, the eventual winner was the talented Cameron Zink. A talented Brit, Artherton has fans all over the world.

3. Kurt Sorge

Next, we have perhaps the most successful Red Bull Rampage rider of all time with three victories and one second-place finish. From Canada, Sorge won the event in 2012, 2015, and 2017. However, his first successful event came in 2008 when he competed closely with Brandon Semenuk and eventually just missed out on the top spot of the podium.

As a bonus fact, Kurt Sorge has the highest score of all time with 96.50 from 2015. This year, the top five riders all scored over 90 points and the other four were unlucky to come across an in-form Kurt Sorge.

4. Kyle Strait

As the first American on our list, Kyle Strait was actually the first man to win the Red Bull Rampage event multiple times. Back in 2004, he set the world alight by beating Gee Artherton to victory with nearly 86 points. Then, nine years later, Strait returned after finishing in 9th position in 2008, 8th position in 2010, and 9th position again in 2012. This time, he was able to beat off competition that included Cameron Zink, Kelly McGarry, and Andreu Lacondeguy.

5. Cameron Zink

Next, Zink’s career in the Red Bull Rampage event has been a story of being a bridesmaid rather than a bride…for the most part. The American started his Rampage career in 2004 and finally got his hands on the trophy in 2010. Since then, he has struggled to come out on top with two second-place finishes and one third-place finish. Zink has always been a fan favourite having won the Best Trick award twice; he has also won the Red Bull Joyride.

Other names include:

  • Andreu Lacondeguy
  • Brett Rheeder
  • Cedric Gracia
  • Tyler Klaasen
  • Wade Simmons

Surprising Benefits Of Weight Lifting: A San Diego Personal Trainer Can Provide

In today’s fast-paced and busy world, it is more important than ever to find a balance between your physical and mental health and well-being. The benefits of physical activity, and in particular, resistance/weight training have been shown to improve both! Most San Diego Gyms can customize a personalized weight lifting program to help you find this balance. Some of the lesser-known benefits of weight lifting include the following:

Benefits Of Weight Lifting

Improves Metabolism

When you lift weights, you target muscle groups that actively accentuate your physical appearance. However, along with muscle gain, regular weight lifting also targets your cells to effectively increase the overall base metabolic rate. This is especially beneficial for those who are looking to reduce weight while increasing muscle mass and bone density in the body.

Helps Fight Osteoporosis

It is no surprise that weight lifting helps with healthy muscle gain. But it’s an unknown fact that weight lifting, especially for women, also increases bone density, making them more resilient to fight diseases like osteoporosis. This usually happens as you start to lose bone mass when you age, however, this can be prevented with guided training programs from different San Diego Gyms.

Better Performance

If you are an active sports player, you can benefit from improved performance at any given sport of your choice by adding weight lifting to your routine on alternative days if not every day. This is because weight lifting works towards improving your endurance level and your overall hand-eye coordination in the body, to keep you at the top of your game performance at all times.

Improves Body Balance

Everybody believes weight lifting to be limited to building active muscles in the body like hamstrings and pecs. But did you know that weight lifting also targets your minor muscle groups called stabilizer muscles? These muscles are responsible to keep your body straight and upright and help you improve your balancing ability for everyday tasks. This is highly important for aging populations to avoid injury-prone deaths.

Treats Back Pain

Most jobs today are limited to a desk and chair, which in turn weakens your lower back muscles, causing pain and discomfort. With supervised weight lifting in the right manner, you can strengthen your core muscles which envelope the spine, giving essential support to your lower back, and reducing back pain significantly. You should start slow and build up the weight progressively after proper guidance from a Personal Trainer San Diego.

Good For Mental Health

Unfortunately, most people do not consider the benefits of exercise and weight training on their mental health. However, did you know that regular weight lifting can effectively reduce your stress levels and anxiety? According to some of the Best Gyms San Diego, weight lifting requires patience and dedication and feeling uncomfortable sometimes. This ability to push past your limits and step out of your physical comfort zone also helps promote mental stability to help fight depression and give you the confidence to deal with other uncomfortable situations in life. In other words, the ability to overcome your physical limits can lead to doing the same in other areas of your life.

Why Is A Personal Trainer Important?

As per the ongoing demand for focused training, some of the top San Diego Gyms insist on personal training programs for their clients to meet their body requirements and expectations the right way. Iron Orr Fitness, one of the most effective San Diego fitness centers, is known to offer fitness guidance from renowned Personal Trainer San Diego.

However, there is still little awareness amongst people regarding the importance and effectiveness of a personal trainer, especially when it comes to achieving all benefits of weight lifting during your fitness journey. Top reasons to choose a personal trainer for weight lifting to include the following:

Constant Motivation

One of the key benefits of hiring a San Diego Personal Trainer is to have someone motivate and encourage you to meet your health and fitness goals and achieve the desired results through weight lifting. Workouts can be demanding and draining, causing loss of interest or motivation which can be avoided with the guidance of a personal trainer.

Better Attitude Towards Weight Lifting

Given the lack of awareness about the benefits of weight lifting as mentioned above, many people refrain from participating in this sort of exercise. However, a personal trainer not only pushes you to move past your comfort zone but also teaches you along the way to keep you informed of the various advantages of the exercises you perform. Additionally, the risk of injuries is also fairly low as you will learn proper form and technique and will be under their supervision at all times.

Increased Focus

Lastly, as you become more experienced with the help of a trainer, your focus and concentration towards the weight lifting program by the best gyms San Diego will be higher. This in turn will result in exceptional results for your mental and physical health.

To conclude, it is no surprise that regular strength training and weight lifting can effectively increase your lean muscle mass, metabolism, stamina, bone density and confidence. There is a big misconception that women who weight train end up looking masculine and gain excessive muscle. However, when you get the correct guidance and support from a list of top San Diego Personal Trainer, you will understand why it is necessary and sign up with one of the Best Gyms in San Diego like Iron Orr Fitness for example. Always remember, if you do not focus on your health now, you will regret (and pay for) it later. Start today!
