Rapper C.KHiD Surprise Releases Two New Tracks for 2019

South Carolinian rapper C.KHiD once had a high rise on YouTube when his single “Yeah Yeah” hit over three million views. However, after a few years of silence, there has been some question as to whether the rapper was still musically active. During his hiatus, the musical artist eventually landed in the Dominican Republic, in which he lived for some months. After an international relocation that varied across several Central European nations, his profiles on social media all went inactive, besides Instagram. On Instagram, (@CKHiD) he resembled a #BlackTravelMovement leader more than a rapper, showcasing his worldly travels in a surprisingly depthful, documentary-style reveal. Now it appears that the Hip-Hop performer is arriving in style in 2019, as two new rap songs, “Las Vegas,” and “IKYB” (If You Knew Better) have been leaked to various blogs and streaming services.

IYKB – If You Knew better, You Could Do Better

The first song, “IKYB,” from C.KHiD is completely original, with a brand new sound. Going off of his Instagram clips, it seems that the South Carolina native has returned from his global travels with a new appreciation for his American roots. The song title, “IKYB,” stands for “If You Knew Better,” lyrics which are prominently featured in the chorus. With production from an up and coming music mogul styled as ‘Amusan C,’  the song features a phat beat with similarly strong lyricism.

In the hook of the song, we hear, “If you knew better, would you do better” again and again. This somewhat existential question shows a departure in theme from the young rapper, who just might be exploring more depthful subjects after becoming more globally cultured. C.KHiD seems to be questioning the importance of knowledge, and the bliss that is inherent in ignorance.

When listeners hear C.KHiD’s new verses for the first time on his newest track, the hook is almost certain to bring with it questions. It shows a vulnerability and depth to the artist that we haven’t seen before.  His bars tell tales of his dating an ex-girlfriend’s sister, with whom he seemed to have a deeper relationship. Despite a darker subject matter than other C.KHiD tracks, this song is still a fun track that is packed with his usual punchlines and witty references.

Las Vegas –  Rick Flair Style

Besides “IKYB,” C.KHiD also leaked the track ‘Las Vegas,’ again without any sort of  marketing scheme or special announcement. Instead, this was discreetly added to his most recent rap album, aBkw2P. However, the ‘Yeah Yeah’ rapper dropped the project without mentioning late last year, before reuploading the whole album with this new track, which seems to be paying homage Vegas casinos, and the entire aesthetic that surrounds them.

There is a side story to this single. Before Offset, of Migos fame, dropped “Rick Flair Drip,” this song was already dropping similar vibes. ‘Las Vegas’ used the same inspiration as the Offset track on its hook, which features WCW Nature Boy’s animated vocals, recorded after performing some incredible stunt.

“I’m poppin tags out in las vegas – Woooo!  Taking selfies that make boyfriends haters – Wooo!” are some lyrics from C.KHiD, taken from the chorus of his new track.

While Apple recently announced “iTunes” is unfortunately going to be permanently shut down, the easiest way to hear these songs, like many others, is through accessing streaming platforms. You can search C.KHiD on Spotify, Shazam, Apple Music, Amazon, or a variety of other providers which offer high quality MP3 streams. “IYKB” can easily be found on YouTube and Soundcloud, while Las Vegas is currently only on YouTube
