Nintendo Switch Lite arrives, a lighter and more compact console

Today, Nintendo Switch Lite Release Date Finally Came, a review of this lighter and more compact console designed only to play in portable mode. This new version enhances the possibility of playing anywhere but also loses some of the features that characterize the original model, such as the possibility of connecting it to an external display.

Among the most outstanding novelties of this new model is the presence of integrated controls, that is, the device no longer features the removable Joy-Con controls so characteristic of the first version of Nintendo Switch. Also, because it is designed to play only in portable mode, Nintendo Switch Lite does not include the dock to connect to the TV via HDMI.

Nintendo’s willingness to offer a more compact console is also noticeable on a smaller screen, which has gone from 6.2 inches of the first version to 5.5 inches of the Lite version. The resolution of 720p is maintained and, although the battery is also smaller (3570 mAh versus 4310 mAh) the autonomy has increased concerning the original model.

The absence of Joy-con controls makes Nintendo Switch Lite dispense with features such as HD vibration or infrared camera. However, it also adds highly demanded features, such as a comfortable control crosshead that replaces the four buttons on the left Joy-Con.

All games of the original Nintendo Switch model are compatible with this review, although, for some specific titles, such as 1-2 Switch, it is necessary to purchase a Joy-Con separately. The exception is the Nintendo Labo assembly kit line, whose dependence on Joy-Con controls means that they cannot be played with Switch Lite.

Nintendo Switch Lite comes to stores in three different colors: turquoise, gray and yellow. Now, soon it will also have alternative models, such as one dedicated to the new Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, which will go on sale on November 8.

This Nintendo Switch review has been designed for those users who have not yet decided to buy the console. Its cheaper price (around 220 euros compared to 300 euros of the original model) and its more compact design make it a more suitable product for children , a movement similar to what Nintendo gave a few years ago with the launch of Nintendo 2DS, a stronger and cheaper version of Nintendo 3DS, but also with fewer features.

However, Nintendo Switch Lite may also be interesting for those users of the original model who want to have a second lighter console to take from one place to another. In this sense, this new version offers the possibility to share the Nintendo user account with the previous model and thus be able to download all the games to play them also in the new version. It also includes a system to transfer saved games, a somewhat cumbersome option because it does not synchronize the games automatically, but at the same time.
