Little Town Hero (Game Freak) details combat system and mechanics

The new of the parents of Pokémon will have the presence of Toby Fox (Undertale) in command of the soundtrack. We know new details.

During the Nintendo Direct that opened this September, new details of Little Town Hero were revealed, which we previously knew only as TOWN, but now we have offered even more news of this new independent Game Freak proposal that will arrive in digital format exclusively for Nintendo Switch.

In the first place, it is worth mentioning something that was already indicated in the broadcast: the game’s soundtrack will be provided by Toby Fox, creator of Undertale. He expanded the information in his personal Twitter account, where he said he was working side by side for the arrangements of some composed songs with Hitomi Sato, known for his sound compositions in video games such as Black and White Pokémon (2010, NDS).

To begin with, the protagonist will call Ax (Ax in English), a young man who aims to travel the world, beyond his village. The problem is that the inhabitants of this small place do not let him go beyond the dangers that appear behind their borders. One day something fatal happens, something that calls all the alarms and precipitates Ax’s intervention to defeat a mysterious monster. To end it he makes use of a hidden rock in the town’s mines, so that is how his adventure begins to discover the mysteries of this place.

The combat system of Little Town Hero will take turns. Commands will be ideas; that is, the movements will be a response from the wit of the protagonist. We will be able to benefit from the support of the rest of the inhabitants of the territory and strategically select which idea is the most propitious in each specific moment of combat. As we discover new locations we will unlock new mechanics and help systems.

In addition to Ax, there will be other secondary characters such as Shipu, her childhood friend, or Nexu, her best friend, somewhat weak compared to him.

According to the description of the game in the eShop, Little Town Hero will have a story “agile and designed for players who do not have much time.” Also, “Unlike what usually happens in most role-playing games, it is not necessary to face weak enemies again and again to strengthen our little hero,” so we do not know if this will mean that there will be no rise in levels…

At the moment the game appears with translation only to Japanese; there will be a patch one day to play in English. Little Town Hero will arrive at the Nintendo Switch eShop this October 16, only in digital format, for 24.99 euros.
