Kumar Vihaan Shergill aka Vicky Kaushal's URI: The Surgical Strike won awards

When Aditya Dhar decided to make a movie on the 2016 Surgical Strike, he didn’t expect the film to become a massive hit just like it did. The film went onto win many prestigious awards, including National Awards too. The movie’s famous dialogue, “How’s The Josh?” instantly became like an anthem for the entire nation. Kumar Vihaan Shergill’s character was beautifully done by Vicky Kaushal.

URI: The Surgical Strike is based on the retaliation by the Indian Army in response to the terror attacks by the enemies at the Uri base camp in September. Vicky Kaushal( Major Kumar Vihaan Shergill) leads a coupe and carry out a covert operation to avenge the fallen Indian soldiers. Vicky plays Major Kumar Vihaan Singh Shergill, who returns to Delhi base camp for a peaceful life and takes care of his sick mother, but the urge to avenge his soldier brothers calls him back on the border, and he does. Kumar Vihaan is known for his meticulous strategizing and planning in missions is called by the Army head to lead the coupe and train them for the task.

In addition to the cast is Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari, Paresh Rawal, and Mohit Raina. The story of the movie is predictable as we know how it ends. But the tricky part in the film is how it happens is beautifully captured and portrayed by the team of URI.

Vicky Kaushal, as Kumar Vihaan is very convincing onscreen and makes your patriotic mind rise with his heartfelt dialogues. Even if you don’t praise India as a country, URI makes you believe that you should go in every possible way. The way he portrays the character of a Major who wants to retire from Army life because his sick mother needs him is too real to watch. He takes the movie ahead on his shoulder with other cast supporting him throughout.

In the film, there is a severe disagreement between the intelligence conflicts in Pakistan as compared to those taking place in India. The officials in the neighboring country consistently put down India at any chance they get. Pakistani officials are clumsy, with some burp-induced humor, and are shown willing to drink themselves silly, whereas the Indians are always alert and on their toes.

Because the movie is too patriotic too watch and successfully makes an impact on the audience, it is highly appreciated. The film leaves you with a bittersweet memory of the fallen soldiers, and later, the Indian Army successfully avenging them. The movie went onto win many awards, including the National Awards too.

Vicky Kaushal ( Kumar Vihaan Shergill)  was awarded Best Actor, whereas Aditya Dhar was awarded Best Director for URI. When asked about the success of URI, Aditya mentioned that 15 years of failure, rejection leads to this, then it’s all worth.

Well, we hope that movies like URI are made so that people would know the struggle of the Indian Army and appreciate them more than we do. As for the awards and recognition, URI turned out to be a massive success for debutant director Aditya Dhar as well as Vicky Kaushal ( Kumar Vihaan Shergill). There are some headlines that the duo is planning another project together, and we can’t wait for another successful movie like URI.
