Kay Sukumar: The Evolution in the Glam World of Photography

Photography, which has always been a trending industry, is now an integral part of the fashion globe and has helped it to evolve drastically due to the extraordinary skills of few experts. One such name in this charismatic world is Kay Sukumar.

Kay Sukumar, the renowned fashion photographer has proven this quotation successfully as he establishes himself amongst the global pageant photographers with his outstanding work. He is currently a prominent name in the chapters of fashion/beauty photographer and he is predominantly based in London, Paris, and Sydney. Recently he has commenced a new work set up in Mumbai too.
With his innovative style, innate photographic sense, passion, and dedication towards his work, he has become the heart of innumerable international magazines such as Verve, Vogue, Harpers’ Bazaar, Schon, and many more.
But this young photographer had never planned to rope in the world of cameras. Instead, he started his professional life as a bartender in a busy country club. The magic began with Sukumar’s fascination towards the shots of an event photographer in the same club, leading him to seek admission in a photographic course.
After completing a few assignments, there was no looking back for him. Watching the work of various experienced beauty and fashion photographers were always his hobby as he used to observe them keenly after renting a space for himself at Glow, where his practice sessions began. The immense patience and dedication towards his work robbed him of the job at Verve Portraits, the famous fashion magazine.
From being the only inexperienced one in the photography course to becoming the favorite man behind the lens for topmost models, Kay Sukumar has come a long way in his success journey and still, has not stopped learning. According to him, photography is more a meditation than a mere job. He loves to study the objects he captures and is inspired by their minute details such as clothing, lightings, color, and materials. He then tries to incorporate those elements in his shoots in different subtle ways, creating such magical snaps.
The Work of Kay Sukumar:
Kay Sukumar’s love for photography has led him to travel to various countries and learn about their cultures. His greatest gift towards the beauty/fashion world is his unique technique of capturing images. His shots tend to give the portraits a natural, refined and appealing look which is definitely a treat to the eyes of fashion lovers. This capability has won him eminent global clients such as ASOS, Debenhams, IMG models, etc.
Recently he got a chance to be the shutterbug of Jess from Cycle 9 of Australia’s Next Top Model. His latest collaboration has been with the online clothing brand named Koovs.com and also with the celebrity designer Natasha Dalal Label.
Besides his love for photography, he has also tried his hands in creative direction for films.
Within a short span of time, Kay Sukumar has made the industry proud by his immense contribution to the fashion photographic world, both in national and international fields. With many new projects waiting for his magical touch, Kay always proves his words of “For me, beauty lies in the imperfections for life”, thus making every object more beautiful with his lens.
