There are many different hydroponic systems. When choosing a system, there are a few things to consider. One of those things is whether or not the system is self-contained. Many of the hydroponics systems require some type of external reservoir. Here are some things to consider when choosing a hydroponic system for your greenhouse.

The cheapest hydroponic systems are the Kratky style bucket systems. In this system, you basically have a large bucket with several holes on its lid. You place plants in net pots with good medium and then fill up the bucket with some nutrients, so it’s barely touching the sides of the medium. Then you turn the pump on and watch your plants grow. The only drawback is that since the plants are growing, they may overheat and burn if you aren’t careful.

If you are looking for something that’s a little bit more maintenance-free, you should look at some of the other systems on the market. One is the glass jar design. This is a pretty popular choice because it’s very easy to clean up. The main problem with this design is that you can’t just throw a couple of jars in and let them sit and collect nutrients like you can with the hydroponics bucket system. It takes a bit of effort to keep your plants healthy.

The other option is the air-based system. The pump uses a fan that blows air through the growing medium inside the bucket. It provides air oxygen and also provides heat for the plants. Some people have found this to be a little bit better for growing mediums, but many say that the results are not worth the extra effort.

There is another very simple way to keep your hydroponic bucket system running efficiently without a motor. A hydroponic growing medium that has a low nutrient level will typically need a small pump to keep it growing as well. You can get one of these pumps, called a kratky system, that you can use with your hydroponic bucket system to maintain the proper nutrient level.

To clean the pump, just remove the filter, agitator assembly, and any of the clamps that are keeping the liquid inside the buckets. Use a long screwdriver to pry off the clamps and remove the assembly from the elbow bucket. Then, through the holes in the elbow, you will be able to remove the air pump and any clamps that are connected to the assembly. Cleaning these parts of your system can save you a lot of time in maintenance, and preventative problems that stem from using air pumps in your system.
