How To Revive Your Damaged Hair

Want to turn your hair from drab to fab?  on you if you’ve had enough of lackluster hair and you’re longing for glossy locks that look salon-fresh, then it’s time to get working hair routine. Your hair needs some pampering, and when you’re not showing it enough love, then it has its way of letting you know – frizz, split ends, dullness, these are all signs of damage.

Discover our top tips for reviving your damaged hair and making it look as glamorous as you are! A serious haircare routine is the first step to vivacious hair!

  1. Don’t over-wash your hair

As well as not being eco-friendly, over-washing your hair can strip it of its natural oils and dry it out. Though it is very tempting, avoid washing your hair every day, this will keep your hair nourished and healthier. Though the recommended amount is twice a week, this doesn’t mean your hair has to be greasy between washes – that’s what dry shampoos are for! Goodbye greasy roots and hello perfect hair!

  1. Are you washing your hair correctly?

For the times of the week you will wash your hair – are you washing your hair correctly? Don’t overload your hair with unnecessary product, and be weary of your use. Shampoo needs to be massaged into the scalp and roots, whilst conditioner can be applied more to the ends of your hair, as they need the most moisture.

  1. Limit your use of heated tools

We love a blow dry or perfecting our Hollywood waves with a curling wand – but how much damage are they really doing to our hair? Limit your use of heated tools if possible, as they will dry out your hair and make it frazzled and dull. If the temptation is too strong, then at least lower the temperature of your tools and blow dry from a further distance, although the recommended method is to let your hair air dry.

  1. Adapt your hair to its current state

Change up your hair care products according to your hair’s state – like us, our hair’s mood constantly evolves. One day it may be dry and straw-like, another day it may be really oily, so update your products when you notice these changes, otherwise, it’s counter-productive.

If you have recently dyed your hair, then you definitely need to give your hair care routine a much-needed update, now you have to make sure it doesn’t dry out and in the case of light blonds and silvers, doesn’t turn a dodgy shade of green.

  1. Don’t over-brush your hair

We said to not over-wash your hair, but you shouldn’t over-brush it either. Though perfecting your hairstyle several times before heading out will make you feel picture-perfect, in the long run, will cause breakage and even more split ends. The more you brush your hair, the more you are pulling on knots in your hair and breaking everything up – not a good look!

  1. Go for regular trims

We love our hair, but finding time to hit the salon and get it trimmed is another matter. Get your hair trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks to avoid breakage and split ends, and give a new lease of life to your hair. It prevents damage if nice sharp scissors are being used, and layers will give a bit more oomph to your hair’s body.

  1. Use oils

Use hair oils wisely and frequently to nourish your hair and your scalp. Olive oils, coconut oils and castor oils are products you need in your cupboards to keep your locks glossy and silky. Use the oil as a mask and leave it in for two hours before rinsing it off and shampooing your hair. And voilà! Gorgeous hair without the help of a stylist!
