Do you want to know how much it can cost to rent an excavator

Having your own land gives us the freedom to plan all kinds of projects. However, sometimes it may be necessary to have certain machinery to carry them out. If your project involves excavation or earthmoving work, you may want to find out how much an excavator costs per day.

Renting an excavator can be the perfect solution to carry out different types of projects: from getting the garden of your dreams to opening the hole for a pool.

How much does an excavator cost per day?

The price of this type of service will depend, fundamentally, on the type of machinery you need. We are talking about excavators in a generic way, but you can also find backhoes or mini excavator hire.

In addition, many times to this type of machinery you can add certain accessories: a hydraulic hammer, a pallet holder, a sweeper, an extra bucket … All these services usually have a price added to the rent of the excavator itself.

How much does an excavator cost per day?

Below we are going to offer you an approximate price range for excavator rental.

Normally the price of renting an excavator ranges from € 90 to € 300 / day, although in some cases the figure can go up to € 400 / day. Mini excavators are usually the cheapest, with prices that can range from € 50 to € 280 / day.

Other expenses related to excavations

The figures we have indicated may rise due to other expenses related to the rental of excavators:

  • Accessories: As we indicated at the beginning, sometimes you may need a specific accessory for the excavator. These items usually have a separate price. For example, a hydraulic hammer can cost you between € 30 and € 150 / day, while a sweeper can cost around € 40 / day.
  • Insurance: Excavator companies do not leave anything to chance and normally the client must pay the price of an insurance that is also paid per day. The cost of these insurances usually ranges from € 3 to € 15 / day.
  • Punctures: There is also a risk that the machine will suffer a puncture on a wheel. These types of incidents are also charged separately and can cost approximately another € 50.
  • Operators: Finally, it should be noted that the price of the operators is also usually not included. In this sense, if you need a person to drive the excavator, the final price can increase.

n relation to the last point, it should be added that the General Drivers Regulation ( Royal Decree 818/2009, of May 8 ) indicates that vehicles with a class B driving capacity of up to 3,500 kg can be driven, while the driving license Class C1 enables to drive vehicles up to 7,500 kg.

What we mean by this is that if you have any of these permits you may be able to drive the excavator yourself. However, it is most recommended to have someone who has the Professional Construction Card (TPC). Be that as it may, the final price summary would be as follows:

EXCAVATION PRICE

Expense typePrice
Excavator€ 50 / day – € 400 / day
accessories€ 30 / day – € 150 / day
insurance€ 3 / day – € 15 / day
Prick€ 50 approx.

What kind of projects can be carried out with an excavator?

As we have already pointed out, an excavator is a very versatile tool that can help you carry out projects of a very diverse nature. Here we tell you about some of the most common:

  • Pools: If you already have the land, you will only need the appropriate machinery to get the hole in which the pool will be built. An excavator may be the perfect solution.
  • Trenches: In many occasions, it may be necessary to have one of these machines for digging trenches. The functions of these trenches can be very varied: housing pipes or cables, creating pipes and even establishing the foundations of a building are some of the most common.
  • Gardens: If you like gardening and want to get the garden of your dreams, you will probably need an excavator. After all, it is the best tool for carrying out work that involves earthworks (for example, if you need to level the ground to lay natural grass ). Also, mini excavators can come in handy if you need to clear a plot.
  • Wells: Although a drill is often necessary to build a well, having the help of an excavator can also be a good idea.

What are the advantages of renting an excavator?

Renting an excavator or any other type of construction machinery can have certain benefits. In the first place, it is a saving, since it allows you to have the ideal machinery for your project for a cheaper price than the purchase price and without having to worry about maintenance costs.

Regarding what we have just pointed out, we cannot forget that the companies that rent machinery have a wide variety of vehicles and devices. They also usually worry about being up-to-date in order to offer the latest technologies. In fact, if you need it, you may be able to request prices for other earthworks.

And, to finish, we would like to add that you will not have to worry about issues such as the storage of machinery either.
