Create a MakeShift Squeegee
When planning a home improvement project, many people make a list of supplies they need. They then get home, start the project, and find they have forgotten a few things. There is often no need to rush back to the home improvement store. They can create a workable solution with items around the home.
For example, they may need a squeegee for their project. If they forgot to pick one up at the store, they could create one using the back of a garden rake, pipe insulation, and cable ties. Once the pipe insulation is in place, it can remain there—there’s no need to remove it to use the rake. The person now has two tools in one.
Ladder Bumpers
Bumpers are a great help when propping a ladder up against the siding of the home or interior or exterior walls. The bumpers protect the surface from damage. However, people have another option to save money on this home improvement project. They can use sneakers as bumpers. Attach them to the tops of the ladder with some duct tape. Who knew old and dirty sneakers could be so beneficial?

Spray foam insulation does more than help keep the home at a comfortable temperature. It can also prevent puddles in the garage. Water can damage tools and other items stored in the garage, but it doesn’t have to. When completing a home improvement project in the garage that involves water, consider using spray foam insulation to ensure water does not reach unintended areas.
Stripped Screws
Very few things are as frustrating as moving steadily through a project only to encounter a stripped screw that will not move. Everybody has stripped a screw at one time or another, and it usually isn’t an issue. However, when the time comes to remove this screw, people often struggle to do so. Use a rubber band as a screw grip, and it will make it easier to remove the stripped screw and continue with the project with minimal delay.
Hands-Free Lighting
Holding a light while completing a project in a tight space is challenging. Some people invest in a headlamp or other device to ensure they have light wherever needed. However, if this device isn’t working, they may find the project comes to a halt. There is no need to stop mid-project. Grab a pair of pliers, a flashlight, and a rubber band. Set the flashlight in the pliers’ jaws and wrap a rubber band around the handle. The light can then be pointed in whichever direction it is needed.
