Hari Tahov: Many brands don’t have a way to connect and talk to their customer about their business or product. Thankfully nowadays we use phones to shop, research, and surf online to get information.
Before the quarantine I co-produced events with the Artist Project LA and entertainment industry colleagues or companies. When organizing events, we always have different companies which have brand activations at the events that engage the guests and let’s them be socially interactive. That was a huge part into even starting to create an event. People came just so they can have fun and document it for social media. But after covid happened that era of event organizing seized to exist.

After covid started, I was in distress we had to stop creating events and making people happy with all the great brand activations. That’s why after graduating with BS from Film School, I found another way to make interactive events, but keep them online. So I set to create Filter experiences for Instagram and Facebook user.

This opened new doors to what’s possible.

XR filters are great brand activations if a company needs to promote themself. Just like at an event filters can provide a user with an experience they can share online. The filter is a mask, game, product, or experience which anyone with an Instagram or Facebook account can use and share. To share a customized brand experience is very contagious as the followers of the person who shared it can see and use it themself. Therefore creating a chain reaction of shares between everyone’s followers and viewers. Filters are special way of promotion because it is applied on every person’s face using it in stories, reels, or Instagram LIVE. If a filter goes viral, it can reach up to a million uses which can be literarily millions of impressions. It is a marketing secret and a very new way of promotion which companies are just discovering.

I think events are a great way to connect people, so filters can really replace them. At an event there’s allot of people you can network with. This makes it impossible to be replaced, but eventually filters will help events and brand activations at events or at home to be more engaging and amusing through XR. However, filter can be used in so many ways that we are just about to see and discover the possibilities of the programs used by the many talented creators.
