Fallout 76 human NPCs are delayed until 2020, with private servers next week.

Earlier this year, during E3 week, it was confirmed that Fallout 76, Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic multiplayer role-playing game, is finally getting human NPCs in a free full-size update called Wastelanders. However, Bethesda announced today that the update will miss the initial launch window for fall 2019 and has now been postponed to the first quarter of 2020.

The developer said it needs extra time to make “the best and most up-to-date upgrade”, which is proving to be one of Bethesda’s biggest additions. “We apologize for this delay, but we know it will be worth the extra time.”

In addition to adding human NPCs for the first time, Wastelanders will introduce a new dialogue system that includes a series of missions with options and consequences, partners and factions, and aligns it with other games in the popular RPG series.

While waiting, players will soon be able to activate private servers to play with friends in Appalachia, as the long-awaited feature will be available next week. Players will buy private rooms directly from Bethesda, which states that future modification features will also be introduced on these servers in the future.

For the rest of 2019, Bethesda plans to release minor Fallout 76 updates with bug fixes and some quality of life improvements requested by the community. The study is also working to add more important features, such as a public test server, performance enhancements, and new events, as part of future updates.
