Dr. Patrick Argiro aka Cousin Pat says do not be Rude to Waiters or Servers

Cousin Pat tells a story of how once while eating at Denny’s he noticed a patron being rude to the server. It was so silly. “Be Nice” A waiter did not plan to become a server. Serving you is not his or her lifelong dream, so be nice. Do not be a bully. A mistake is a mistake…we all make them. Dr. Patrick Argiro states to try an exercise where the patron can picture that person is your son or your daughter, your husband or your wife and be nice and tip!

David Shisler of Divine Stature Mindful Fitness Coaching agrees with Cousin Pat. Mr. Shisler believes that when a person is rude to another person it always has more to do with them, than it does with that other person they are directing their rudeness towards! Treat people the way you would want someone to treat your family members.

So many people will work in the service industry and although not all people are pleasant to deal with, most individuals in the service industry are polite and do their job incredibly well. These individuals should not be spoken to like they are servants.

Cousin Pat knows that everybody is entitled to a difficult day but if you know someone who has ever been a server, host, busboy or bartender, then realize the person serving you is someone’s child, someone’s son or daughter, perhaps someone’s friend and you never know what someone is going through so be kind.

The movie Waiting starring Ryan Reynolds that was released in 2005 and still waiting which was released in 2009 is a fictional movie about staffers at a restaurant who engage in various pranks and games, both on and off the clock. This movie displays what servers go through daily as well as what they are capable of when they are overseeing your food.

There was one server in New York who mentioned how when someone was extremely rude to him that he spit in his pastrami sandwich before serving it.

Although this was not appropriate, and this behavior is not acceptable, this is what can happen.

It is important to always be thoughtful and considerate and be aware that people overseeing your food can do whatever they want behind closed doors, so please be kind and do not be rude.
