Diablo 4 - The Barbarian's Brutal Weapon Choices

The archangel, Inarius, and mother of Sanctuary, Lilith, will be squaring off against each other once Diablo 4 launches in June next month.

Needless to say, they will bring their armies into the fold as well, guaranteeing that their conflict will have dire consequences to the innocents of Sanctuary, including you.

That’s why you play a major role in protecting the people, and if you’re planning on becoming a mighty Barbarian, then you should know that you can now use up to four (4) different weapons interchangeably in Diablo 4 via the Arsenal System!

Basically, you don’t actually have to change your weapon in hand, because it works automatically whenever you use skills pertaining to the respective weapons themselves.

This makes it simple for you to focus on the most powerful skills and abilities that you want to use instead, and your character will switch their weapon according to the skill that you use in-game (as long as they’re inside your inventory). You may need a lot of help, such as clicking here to learn more.

So, want to know what weapons are available for the Barbarian in Diablo 4?

Here you go:

One-Handed Weapons

  • Sword
  • Axe
  • Mace

Two-Handed Weapons

  • Greatsword
  • Greataxe
  • Hammer
  • Mace
  • Polearm

As you can see, the mace has two (2) different versions, but both are of the Bludgeoning type, so you can always have one if you need to defeat certain foes using it, regardless of your build (one-handed or two-handed).

Different weapon families have unique effects related to their skills, making them special according to your playing style.

These are explained here:

One–Handed Weapon Effects

  • Sword: Crowd-Control (CC)
  • Axe: Critical Strike Chance
  • Mace: Stun

Two-Handed Weapon Effects

  • Greatsword: Bleed
  • Greataxe: Vulnerable
  • Mace: Berserking
  • Polearm: Lucky Hit Chance/ Health

Now, these identify which type of weapon you would want to have at all times, allowing you to synergise between different effects and skill rotations.

Plus, understanding your overall endgame playing style can ensure that you don’t make any mistakes with your stats and gear early on.

After all, a Barbarian works best when going up close and personal with enemies, so maximising your damage-per-second (DPS) output is of great importance.

There are bound to be many Unique weapons to be acquired in Diablo 4 as well, for the Barbarian.

As of this moment, these are the current Unique weapons that the Barbarian can use:

  • Ramaladni’s Magnum Opus (One-Handed Sword)
    • Increases the damages of One-Handed Sword skills per Fury, but loses Fury every second.
  • Ancients’ Oath (Two-Handed Axe)
    • The skill, Steel Grasp, has two (2) more chains, and enemies hit are Slowed.
  • Hellhammer (Two-Handed Mace)
    • The skill, Upheaval, ignites the ground, burning enemies standing on it.
  • Overkill (Two-Handed Mace)
    • The skill, Death Blow, emanates a shockwave that deals damage to enemies, resetting its cooldown if enemies are slain by it.
  • Fields of Crimson (Two-Handed Sword)
    • The skill, Rupture, creates a pool of blood that applies Bleed on enemies standing on it, applying more damage the longer the stay on top of the blood.

There will be more Unique weapons to discover in Diablo 4, you can be sure of it.
