Age of Empires 2: The Ultimate Edition, the classic rebuilding

The Age of Empires is one of the first names that comes to mind in strategic games. Ensemble Studios revolutionized the genre with a system that kept the player in constant action, diverting attention between protecting the kingdom and invading other countries. Building and entertaining an empire was not easy, but it was an entertaining project that could last for hours.

Age of Empires Definitive Edition age of the empires appeared in late 2018 with a bittersweet taste, which consisted of a great graphic enhancement and insufficient artificial intelligence. Microsoft has recognized the pros and cons of this remote and plans to compensate for the Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition released on November 14 for Windows computers. In the meditation, we came to the closed beta version and today we bring our first appearance of a game that is just as addictive as the original.

Departure into the present

Age of Empires 2: A final version contains a reconstructed version of the Age of Kings that originated at the beginning of the Middle Ages after the fall of the Roman Empire. In the historical presentation, the stories of great historical figures are discussed, 35 original civilizations are included, to which Bulgarians, Lithuanians, Cumans, and Tatars are added. At first glance, we see a dramatic improvement in the drawings as the details and textures are heavily distorted and the animations look more flexible. The volume keeps the same refined and attractive ambient music. The voices of our troops are almost identical, though we found more technical mistakes here. For its part, the source seemed the least cautious side. It can only be read when we choose the sans-serif option, and the integration into the environment makes us tough, with some unclear characters on some screens and a minimum of excessive size in notifications. The menus are very intuitive and accessible than the original. Additional editing support, map editor, and mixer section that facilitate streaming sessions.

In the main menu, we find that in addition to campaign mode and the multiplayer campaign, challenging quests and historical battles have been added. In beta, however, we were only able to access the campaigns of William William, Joan of Arc and Attila the Hun. For the Scottish missionary arc, this is a very detailed tutorial that refreshes the memory of the game system and introduces this kind of beginner. We also competed against other players in multiplayer mode (with interactive gameplay between Xbox Live and Steam), although connectivity has not always made it easy and we’ve been waiting for inaccessible spaces. We have also come to other games as spectators, an ideal model of e-sports and very useful in learning new strategies.

The age of kings.

Campaigns maintain a network of tasks that refresh each hero’s story and a historical figure in which we make all the strategic preparations that the Empire-age system allows. With certain goals, we have room for creativity, but we always try to threaten the enemy. For AI behavior, it seems true. On the other hand, the automatic actions of our army have the same drawbacks as in the original game: it’s easy to block the road, and in some cases, we had to download the game because the troops could not return to the track.

Likewise we welcome further improvements in the control: we can identify the standard behavior of the army, exploration, and movement on the map is graceful. The sequence of tasks and successive creations is also very convenient. The on-screen menu is very easy to use and the response of the controls was very satisfactory. For the site, we have texts and sounds in the Latin language. While the translation is perfect, it’s accurate, keeping the epic tone of historical calculations and the clarity of the clues that the characters provide in our campaign. Sometimes we found some mistakes in untranslated texts or meaning errors that had consequences in the game, eg. To go west if the place was of interest to the east. However, we are confident that these minor flaws will be resolved given the game version.

In Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition there is much to discover, such as new game modes and in-depth online games, as well as missionary campaigns. In general, we expect the source to be reworked in new updates as well as certain errors.
