Actor Profile: The Talented Jerónimo Henao
Jerónimo Henao is an actor from Colombia. He has performed on the stage and has acted in commercials, short films and was recently cast as the lead in a feature-length motion picture called Black Angel. He has an interesting background, having traveled to Europe after he finished school and then he lived in Paris for some time. That in itself is a story which he will have to tell later. However, it was while he was in the City of Light that he made up his mind to take a leap of faith and move to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.
When he got there he began modeling and started to get roles in commercials and short films. He did commercials for Nordstrom, State Farm Insurance and among others, Mortal Combat 11 directed by Joe Sill for Warner Brothers Studios. His exceptional good looks and his immense acting skills continued to bring more jobs to his door. Shooting on Black Angel began production this year but had to temporarily shut down due to the pandemic. Production is scheduled to resume in early 2021.
One of the most important projects that Jeronimo has worked on in the last few years was the film about the fight against HIV. The film, Mixed Status, is about a serodiscordant couple, (one person is HIV positive and the other isn’t) who fights the stigma of HIV by educating the public about the medical advances in the field of HIV along with the available treatment and prevention measures. The award-winning short film premiered at the Playhouse West Film Festival in Los Angeles, and was screened at numerous film festivals around the world. It was done with the support of HIV DENMARK, AIDS FONDETE (Denmark) and Fundacion EUDES (Colombia) and will be distributed through their platforms next year to commemorate the 25th year anniversary of the invention of ANTIRETROVIRAL THERAPY, which is the main form of treatment for HIV.
Mixed Status was written by Jeronimo and directed by Daniel Pineros and stars Tania Camargo, William Gabriel Grier, Lakelda “Kel” Harris and Jeronimo Henao. The film was also produced by Daniel Pineros, Alejandra Salinas and Jeronimo Henao. As you can see by the credits, Jeronimo was much more involved in the production than just acting in it. He was working very hard behind the scenes, along with the other hard-working crew members, to make sure that the film got made the way they visualized it. Apparently, the hard work paid off.
