American rapper Daniel Hernandez, known professionally as Tekashi 6ix9ine, has been called a rat and a snitch by the likes of Meek Mill and fans of Cardi B. Despite the anger directed at the musician, it seems the world is more interested in his latest music release than his arrest records or his snitching. People are so entertained by his newest video that it broke records on YouTube.

Snitching on Cardi B & GOOBA

During the third and last day of his testimony against the alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods members, Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack and Anthony “Harv” Ellison, Tekashi made some serious allegations against rapper Cardi B and retired rapper Jim Jones.

The case against Aljermiah and Anthony was about racketeering and other criminal charges against them. Anthony was accused of kidnapping Tekashi in July 2018, using a gun to do so. Jeremiah was accused of peddling ecstasy and heroin.

As he testified, Tekashi said Jim was a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. According to a report by Vulture.com, the audio was then played in court that revealed a conversation from November 2018. The audio was intercepted with a wiretap.

In it, Jim and the alleged ‘Godfather’ of the gang, Jamel Jones, is heard complaining about Tekashi’s ‘trash-talking’ of members. Jim then says ‘he gotta get violated’. Jamel agrees and adds, ‘Yeah, super violated’. The audio then goes on to also prove that Tekashi was part of the gang as Jim is heard saying ‘Tell that n**** that he’s not a gang member no more’.

Tekashi also claimed that Cardi B was part of the now-notorious gang. This is something that she also addressed in the past.

Online publication Paper reported that Cardi talked about it in a 2018 GQ profile. She said she used to hang out with members of the gang and admitted to joining. After Tekashi’s testimony, Cardi told TMZ that what he said in court was not true. Later, she once again admitted to having ties to the Bloods gang but said she had nothing to do with Nine Trey.

As he testified, Tekashi admitted that he lied during interviews after he was allegedly kidnapped. He said he was untruthful because he felt humiliated about the experience.

Anthony’s lawyer, Devereaux Cannick, focused on painting Tekashi as a very big liar when he pointed out that the alleged kidnapping happened on 22 July, the same day that his track ‘FEFE’ was supposed to be released. It was alleged the kidnapping was just a publicity stunt.

As revealed in the Vulture.com report, Tekashi’s ‘snitching on Cardi B & Jim Jones’ (his agreement with the police) would see him cooperating and testifying. If he didn’t make the plea deal, he would have faced a minimum sentence of 47 years in jail.

Tekashi’s Jail Sentence

Tekashi’s arrangement with the police and courts worked – he was found guilty of racketeering and other charges but, he only received a sentence of 2 years.

This came after he was arrested in November 2018 on charges of being part of attempted murder, racketeering, and illegal firearms possession.

The 13 months that he spent in jail before he was found guilty were included, meaning he would only have to serve 11 more months.

Tekashi stated in court that he couldn’t blame anyone else for the things he did. He added that he is not a victim, he placed himself in his current position. At one point, the 24-year-old broke down in tears.

After composing himself, the rapper apologized to his wife, family, and 2 daughters.

He admitted to making bad decisions but said it does not mean he is a bad person. He also said that he used to be more concerned with success and fame than the well-being of others.

Tekashi was released from prison to be under house arrest amid fears of the coronavirus.

Release Of Music Video For New 6ix9ine song “GOOBA” Shatters YouTube Records

Shortly after he was released and back home, Tekashi caused a stir. He was allowed to film music videos in his backyard, and his fans loved it.

He dropped the video “GOOBA” and in it, Tekashi openly dares listeners to tell him how he ‘ratted’.  The video managed to break the YouTube record for the biggest 24-hour debut in hip-hop.

Currently, the video has 127,145,889 views. It is estimated that on the first day, “GOOBA” raked in 43 million views. This means it surpassed Eminem’s previous record with “Killshot”, which garnered 38.1 million views on its first day.

It certainly looks like the world is more interested in the new 6ix9ine song “GOOBA” than it is checking arrest records and verifying his snitching.

The Live-Stream That Also Broke Records

It seems that since he was in prison, Tekashi was hell-bent on making big waves. He went on Instagram Live shortly after the release of his video to admit that he snitched.

But he added that the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods took advantage of him and slept with his ex. He talked about loyalty, asking where that was when they (allegedly) wanted to kill him and try to kidnap his mother and stole millions from him.

This live-stream also surpassed records by getting more than 2 million views.

It doesn’t look like Tekashi 6ix9ine is about to step away from the limelight, even after claiming that he is done with rap music and wants to retire.

Real Hip-Hop Culture While this fake artist thrives on the landscape due to suburb kids who know nothing about morals and adhering to street codes, there’s much better options available.  Perhaps some just don’t know where to look.    Rappers Nipsey Hussle and XXXTentacion both died in recent years, but they have so much music they can easily fill a playlist for hours.     The ‘best of Nipsey Hussle’  mix on YouTube is pretty incredible.

Other artists who are little to the unknown that is good for a playlist, include both old and new.   MBAM Lil Flip, who’s burst onto the scene recently with song “Guilty Conscience,” is definitely one to watch.  The California rappers bring back memories of the Eminem and Dr. Dre collaboration from the 1990s.

One of the top South Carolina rappers, C.KHiD,  is a throwback YouTube artist who’s been less active lately. The Black Box Dreams album series was one of the most popular releases on YouTube for 4 years.    After reaching a level of success independently, it appears he stepped away from the scene.  However, his “Status Quo” rap video displays every reason why rappers, from oppressed areas, love saying ‘F–k the Police’ like NWA.  See the video below.
